"We sued the Ministry of Culture, which illegally de-registered the Kyiv Patriarchate of the UOC. There was no hearing yet, but we filed a lawsuit. I want to emphasize that without the consent of the head of the Kyiv Patriarchate, the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Culture have no right to de-register it," Filaret said.
We recall, Patriarch appealed to the Ministry of Justice and President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky with a request to extend the registration and protect the rights of the UOC-KP. The Ministry of Culture confirmed that the UOC-KP ceased its activities.
Filaret wrote a letter to the Ministry of Justice, informing that neither the leaders of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine nor the liquidation commission created by it had anything to do with the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
“We got information that the Justice Ministry intended to cancel registration Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Kyiv Patriarchate and deprive Kyiv Patriarchy of Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the status of a legal entity based on the decision of liquidation commission created by the leadership of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine,” Filaret said.
Filaret also wrote a letter to the president of Ukraine asking to protect the rights of the church and interests of the Ukrainian people.
According to the Primate, he and his church were deceived with the “anti-national participation” of former president Poroshenko, when Ukraine received Tomos. As reported, the honorable patriarch of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Filaret, said that he did not accept the Tomos about autocephaly.
