Facebook suffers large-scale malfunction across Europe

A lot of cases of malfunction were observed on Europe-based Facebook accounts on Tuesday, February 5. Downdetector reported that, screening the images with the locations where such cases took place. 

According to the service, the malfunctions were reported in Ukraine, Bulgaria, Romania, the Czech Republic, Germany, the UK, France, Portugal, the Netherlands, Austria, Sweden and Estonia. Some users complained about failing to connect to the server; however, the vast majority reports issues with sending messages.

In Ukraine, the problems, including these with sending messages are observed in Kyiv and Lviv.

Earlier, Facebook administration limited political publicity in a number of states, including Ukraine. The changes concern Nigeria, India, Ukraine and the EU member countries, where elections will be held this year. The limitations are necessary to prevent the interference of foreign entities and individuals in the electoral process.

Previously, the social network was involved in the scandal with the Russian special services interfering with the presidential election in the U.S. Moscow denies these charges.
