Facebook has started to label the messages of mass media controlled by the state that people could understand who is behind the news on social media as Facebook reported.

“We want to help people better understand who’s behind the news they see on Facebook. Several months ago, we announced our plan to label media outlets that are wholly or partially under the editorial control of their government, and today we’re starting to apply labels to those state-controlled media outlets,” the message said.

It is noted that state-controlled mass media rarely post advertise in the U.S. However, this summer, Facebook starts blocking ads of these mass media in the U.S. due to precaution to provide an extra level of protection from different kinds of foreign influence on public debates before the U.S. elections in November 2020.

On May 27, U.S. President Donald Trump accused social media platforms of censorship against the Republican Party. Trump is going to introduce control over the social networks down to their blocking.
