A large-scale cyber attack hit dozens of companies and enterprises across Ukraine. The attacks began at about 11.30 a.m. Tuesday; the virus referred is spreading very fast. consequently, the list of the companies that took damage from it is now expanding.

As of 4 p.m. Tuesday, the virus attacked the following entities:

Banks: TASS, Oshchadbank, Alfa Bank, Pivdenny, OTP, Privatbank

Transport carriers: Ukrzaliznytsia, Kyiv subway, Boryspil International Airport

Mail services: UkrPoshta, Nova Poshta

Public utilities: State Heating and Energy Committee, UkrEnergo, KyivEnergo, Kyivvodokanal

Mobile network operators: Lifecell, Vodafone Ukraine

Media: ATR TV channel, Inter TV channel, Channel 24, First.UA TV channel, Glas TV channel, Korrespondent website.   

Government agencies: Cabinet of Ministers website, Lviv city hall website, state-run enterprise ‘Dokument’.

It seems that all of the mentioned companies were attacked by the same virus. Cyber protection experts point out it is mbr locker 256 malware, a blackmailing virus, demanding from users to send money in exchange for decryption of the encrypted data.
