Explosion of Kyiv residential building: Internal work postponed amid threat of collapse

At the moment, work in under way to clean the destroyed structures on the outside of the residential building in Kyiv’s Poznyaky area that has been damaged due to the explosion, which occurred yesterday, on June 21. However, there is a threat of structures’ collapse that prevents the internal work from being carried out. This was reported by the press service of Ukraine’s Interior Ministry.

The department noted that a tachometer was being used to monitor all the activities. The emergency response headquarters, the mobile task force of the State Emergency Service and the National Police are at the site.

In addition, state psychologists are providing emergency psychological assistance to the evacuees.

According to the ministry, the building’s structures were strengthened. A total of 42 units of equipment and 211 people are working at the site of the explosion, including 19 units of equipment and 91 rescuers from the State Administration, as well as cynologists.

Tetiana Dankevych, a correspondent for the 112 Ukraine TV channel, who is at the scene, said that rescuers were continuing the search for two people missing.

As we reported earlier, law enforcement authorities are considering two versions of the explosion.

"One version is a gas explosion, the other is an explosive device. Now the bombers have taken the materials for examination. It will take 30-40 minutes to establish the cause of the explosion," the report reads.
