Explosion at gas pipeline takes place in Austria

The explosion took place at one of the biggest gas pipeline in Weiden an der March district, Austria as the local police reported at Twitter.

‘The explosion at the gas pipeline in Weiden an der March took place. Avoid the territory of the explosion and follow the orders of the law enforcers’, the message said.

The local edition Noe.orf.at reported that at least one person died and 18 were wounded in the result of the explosion citing the information of the Red Cross of Lower Austria. At the same time some sources report on 60 wounded people. The law enforcers did not report on the number of the victims.

‘The explosion caused the fire and six household buildings are on fire due to this. The cars began to melt at the parking’, Franz Resperger, the spokesperson of the local fire emergency.

It is noted that the police blocked off the zone of the explosion and a few fire brigades and rescue groups work in the scene.
