Brazilian Rafael Lusvarghi, who participated in the combat actions in Donbas on the militants’ side, was arrested in Brazil on suspicion of illegal drug trafficking and possession of a weapon as Globo reported.
36-year-old Rafael Lusvarghi was detained by military police in Presidente Prudente, São Paulo state. During the search at his house, police officers found 25 kg of marihuana, a dose of cocaine-like substance and 350 9mm ammunition. Besides, money, passports, precise scales and motor-cycle of suspicious origin were also confiscated.
A substance similar to cocaine was not identified by an expert study but it contained tetrahydrocannabinol.
Rafael Lusvarghi reported to the police that he arrived in Brazil about a month ago and he will be looking for a job in Western São Paulo.
He stated that a few weeks ago he agreed to keep drugs and ammunition at the request of other people, supposedly unknown. The reward for this function made 3,000 reals ($574) per month.
He was arrested for illegal drug trafficking and possession of a weapon.
Rafael Lusvarghi fought in Donbas against the Ukrainian military in 2014-2015. In 2016, he was detained at Boryspil airport during the special operation of the Security Service of Ukraine. In May 2019, was sentenced to 13 years of imprisonment.
In December 2019, Lusvarghi was exchanged within the prisoner swap with occupied Donbas militants.
