The appeal court of Odesa region ruled that Viktor Balatsky, the former fighter of Aidar battalion suspected of illegal manufacturing, recycling and smuggling of firearms will remain in detention. 

The press service of the court reported that on Friday. 

Previously, Balatsky served with Aidar, the volunteer battalion of Ukraine's Interior Ministry, which fought the Russian militants in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

He is now also charged with illegal smuggling of the said weaponry and ammunition to Kyiv region and other regions of Ukraine, while being part of an organized criminal gang that smuggles weapons. 

Previously, the court considered Balatsky's case and ruled that the defendant will remain in custody for 60 days.
