Medics of Novi Sanzhary settlement (Poltava region, central Ukraine) have no means or opportunities to set the quarantine for those who were infected with the Chinese coronavirus. Local lawmakers from the settlement council said so in their statement that they sent to President Volodymyr Zelensky and Healthcare Minister Zoryana Skaletska.

"We need a base for those sick of the coronavirus or those who contacted these people; the framework that meets the requirements of the counter-epidemic regime on the state level. Such a base is absent in our district. The hospital in Novi Sanzhary is not duly equipped or supplied with medications, and it's not ready to provide the full-fledged treatment for those infected with the coronavirus", reads the statement.

The lawmakers claim that the situation threatens lives of the people, and they demand that the top officials take urgent measures so that the people evacuated from China are not let inside the Novi Sanzhary medical center. They say the locals fear the infiltration and spread of COVID-19, the disease that already killed thousands of people - mostly in China.

There are no quarantine boxes or other kinds of isolators in Novi Sanzhary hospital - not even a special ventilation system.

People are protesting against the accommodation of the plane passengers in Novi Sanzhary.
