European politicians have condemned the actions of the Ukraine’s State Bureau of Investigation (SBI), which had opened a case against the fifth president of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko on suspicion of treason. Member of the European Parliament, Vice-Speaker of the Lithuanian Seimas Petras Aushtravicius, German politician, Member of the European Parliament (2004-2019) Rebecca Harms and former Swedish Prime Minister Carl Bildt have spoken in defense of Poroshenko.
“I express my deep concern because of Ukraine’s State Bureau of Investigation has opened a criminal case against Petro Poroshenko, possible on treason, in respect of the Complex of Measures for Implementation of Minsk Agreements. By all means to avoid politically motivated steps,” Petras Aushtravicius said.
“Feels as if some Ukrainians would compete to destroy the countries reputation.Totally absurd,” Harms stressed.
“This is Ukraine at its very worst. Yanukovich put Tymoshenko in prison on trumped up charges, and now Zelensky seems to be aiming at doing the same. Shame!” Bildt stated.
