The European Parliament on May 15 approved the payment of 3 billion euros of assistance to neighboring countries and EU partners to combat the effects of the pandemic. The official website of the European Parliament reports.
As noted, loans will be provided during the year to 10 countries, including Ukraine, which will receive 1.2 billion euros.
Other countries that the EU plans to provide assistance: Albania (180 million euros), Bosnia and Herzegovina (250 million euros), Georgia (150 million euros), Jordan (200 million euros), Kosovo (100 million euros), Moldova (100 million euros), Montenegro (60 million euros), Northern Macedonia (160 million euros), Tunisia (600 million euros).
Parliament passed a decision with 547 votes. The issue was considered under a shortened procedure.
Now this decision should be approved by the EU Council.
As we reported, the GDP of Ukraine in the first quarter of 2020 (January, February, March) decreased by 1.5% in comparison with the first quarter of 2019
In comparison with the previous quarter, the reduction of the GDP made 0.8% considering the seasonal factor.
