The national teams of Poland and Slovakia played the fixture of Euro 2020. The match took place at Gazprom Arena in St. Petersburg, Russia.
It all began ugly for Poland. Robert Mak outmatched two Polish defenders on the left flank, entered the penalty area and delivered a tricky shot. The ball ricocheted from goalkeeper Wojcech Szczesny and jumped into the net.
The Poles got their act together and made it even early in the second half. Karol Linetty landed the shot after a cross from the left. Having scored, Paulo Souza's men tried to push forward, but Grzegorz Krychowiak scored the second yellow card and left the pitch. The Slovaks made use of the advantage soon enough; Milan Škriniar turned it home after Marek Hamšík's headed pass into the penalty area. The Poles put up a decent fight but could not equalize once again.
Earlier, we reported that the national team of Ukraine scored two goals, but was eventually defeated in the first round of the group stage of the UEFA Euro Cup in Amsterdam on Sunday.
