The European Union plans to lift the restrictions for movement through internal borders until the end of June and allow the citizens to move ‘without urgent necessity’ through external borders from the beginning of July as Ukrinform reported citing Vice President of the European Commission Josep Borell.
“Today, the Panel discussed the measures assumed by the countries-members at the internal border during the coronavirus crisis and temporary restrictions for ‘minor’ visits to the European area. Considering the external borders, the Panel noted that a few countries-members are at the process of the cancelation of the control at the internal border and concluded that this process should be finished within this month, in June,” Borell said.
Besides, he noted that the cancelation of the temporary restrictions for travels through the external borders will be held at the second stage of the mitigation of quarantine measures.
“At the end of this week, the Panel will provide its personal estimation on the restrictions for travels and it will provide the proposals of gradual and phased cancelation of these restrictions from July 1 with some of the third countries, considering the number of principles and criteria on the basis of the common and coordinated approach of the countries-members and support of the European Commission,” he added.
As we reported, the countries of the European Union stood for the extension of the restrictions for entry for the citizens of third countries after June 15.
