Today, September 19, the Equality March takes place in Kyiv. This is a peaceful march in support of LGBT + rights. In this regard, the comissioner of the Verkhovna Rada for human rights Lyudmyla Denisova called on law enforcement agencies to ensure control over the observance of public order during the event. She wrote about this on Facebook.
"Today in Kyiv, the Equality March will take place - a peaceful march in support of the rights of LGBT +. The Constitution of Ukraine proclaimed all people equal in their rights from birth, regardless of any signs, including sexual orientation and gender identity," she writes.
Denisova called on citizens to be tolerant to each other and refrain from manifestations of discrimination.
"I appeal to the city authorities and law enforcement agencies to ensure control over the observance of public order during the event and guarantee the safety of its participants," she said.
Participants of the LGBT march have already taken to the streets of Kyiv. The theme of the current march is "A country for everyone. Laws for life. A state for security."
According to the organizers, about 10 000 activists will gather at the march.
