Diversification of nuclear fuel supplies let Ukraine’s energy system work more effectively; that, in turn, increases capacity of heating systems in conditions of freezing winter temperatures across the country. Energy Minister Ihor Nasalyk said this during the question hour, which is held today in the Ukrainian parliament.
‘The united energy system works properly, and we’re ready for any cold spells, no matter how powerful. Our power engineers did a great deal of work. Thanks to diversification of nuclear fuel supplies, the efficiency rate of our nuclear industry made 60 percent – compared with 47 percent in May 2016. In terms of energy safety, Ukraine is a self-sufficient country now. We’ve got rid of the Russian influence on our energy system; now, they have no access to our gas valves and our power switches,’ the official said.
