Every day, eight Ukrainian citizens perish in road accidents all over the country. Arsen Avakov, Ukraine’s minister for internal affairs reported this during the government session in Kyiv on Friday.

‘In 2016, almost 155,000 road accidents took place in Ukraine; 25,000 of these resulted in human casualties. Over 32,000 were injured and 3,187 lost their lives,’ he said.

Avakov also added that over the nine months in 2017, 2,317 people deceased in 117,000 road accidents, another 25,000 citizens received injuries.

‘Every day, eight people die in road accidents, and 92 more get injured. As a comparison, 763 military and police servicemen were killed in Donbas over the period from January 1, 2017 till January 1, 2017. That is, last year, the number of people killed in road accidents four times exceeded that of the military men who died on the frontlines,’ Avakov said.
