Eight militants attacked Russian Guard unit in Chechnya

Six attackers are liquidated, casualties among the service men of the Russian Guard yet to be determined

A group of eight militants tried to break through the territory of the Russian Guard unit in Stanitsya Naurska, Chechen Republic, six of them are liquidated, TASS reported citing the law enforcement bodies of the Republic.

"Six militants killed, another two escaped,” the source noted.

According to him, the fight near the unit checkpoint occurred between 2:00 and 3:00 a.m. local time. The casualties among the service men of the Russian Guard are to be determined.

“The unit is in the full combat alert now,” the source stressed.

Apart from that amber alert is introduced on the territory of Naursky region, the source in the law enforcement bodies of the Northern Caucasian federal district reported.

“At the moment amber alert is introduced on the territory of Naursky region of Chechnya to catch the militants who assaulted the Russian Guard military base,” the source said.

Later the Russia’s National Antiterrorist Committee noted that in the result of the attack several military men died, reported Ria Novosti news agency.

"Unfortunately we couldn’t avoid the losses in the Russian guard, there are dead and wounded among the servicemen,” the committee announced.

They also confirmed the information about killing six attackers.

According to Meduza, the fake suicide vests were found on the bodies of the killed attackers.
