Police detained a Kharkiv citizen on the suspicion of knowingly false reports about the mining of the market. The communications department of the National Police in Kharkiv region reported that.

The police got the message about the mining of the market on the Avenue of Heroes of Stalingrad in Kharkiv on Friday around 15:05.

Law enforcement officers examined 25 thousand square meters of territory; 1,500 people were evacuated. Police found no explosive devices or hazardous substances.

"A 44-year-old man committed an offense while intoxicated. Law enforcers seized his cell phone, from which the call was made," the report said.

Criminal proceedings were opened under Part 1 of Art. 259 ("Knowingly false report about a threat to the safety of citizens, destruction or damage to property") of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of two to six years.
