Driver busted with Stradivari’s violin while on way to occupied Donetsk

Ukraine’s Border Guard seized the 18th century violin from a driver who tried to illegally cross the division line in Donbas and make it to the occupied Donetsk. The incident took place at Mariinka checkpoint.

According to Oleg Slobodyan, the spokesman for the State Border Guard, the man hid the Stradivari’s violin in the trunk of his car.

The violin has the issue year, 1730, and the maker’s signature on it.

The man was detained and handed over to the police.
