A food poisoning case is observed in Donetsk region-based summer camp. The disorder affected dozens of people, most of them children, the State Emergency Service reported.
On July 18, the authority was informed of hospitalization of 84 people, 68 of them children; all of them suffered the symptoms of the diarrheal disease. All patients arrived from Yastrebok summer camp, located in Sosnivka, Donetsk region ('Yastrebok' is Russian for 'Little Hawk', - 112 International). Everyone complained of nausea, weakness and high body temperature.
There were 134 people at the camp at the time; the hygienic and counter-epidemic measures are conducted to prevent the spread of the infection.
The camp's work was suspended until the investigation is over. The government ordered to check other summer camps across Ukraine for any possible violations of food security.
Earlier, the mass poisoning of children took place in Slavutych, the private camp in Pereiaslav-Khmelnytskyi district. 12 children suffered. The administration of the camp dines that children got poisoned in their cafeteria. Issued by the coaches the spoiled yogurt caused poisoning of children, the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection claimed.
The Prosecutor’s Office in Kyiv region opened criminal proceedings over violation of sanitary rules and regulations regarding the prevention of infectious diseases and mass poisonings.
