Zhovtnevy district court of Zaporizhya (southeastern Ukraine) sentenced Donetsk region resident to five years in prison. The man was supposed to commit a terrorist act, the SBU press office reports.

The man was recruited and trained as a demolition specialist by Russian mercenaries in the occupied Donbas. Soon after that, they ordered him to carry out the attack.

"To commit it, the mercenary came to Zaporizhya, carrying the homemade explosive device with the capacity of almost 1.5 kg of moldable explosive. He planned to set the charge and blow it up in the highly populated district of the city centre. The explosion was supposed to result in numerous human casualties and destabilization of social and political order in the region", the SBU said.
