Natural gas consumption in the Dnipropetrovsk region has decreased by almost a quarter over the past four years. This was stated by the head of the Dnipropetrovsk regional state administration Valentyn Reznichenko, reports Interfax.
Gas consumption decreased by 23% - by 917.3 million cubic meters. According to Reznichenko, this has become possible due to the introduction of energy-efficient technologies in the form of installing alternative boiler houses, solar power plants, as well as home insulation. According to his calculations, more than a hundred alternative boiler houses and dozens of solar power stations started working in the region.
“Switching to alternative types of heating is a guarantee of the state’s energy independence. Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko focused on this. For 4 years, the region has reduced gas consumption by almost a quarter because it is actively introducing energy efficient technologies,” said Valentyin Reznichenko.
According to Reznichenko, centralized heating was already abandoned in three cities, such as Pokrov, Nikopol and Marganets. At the same time in the region the construction and reconstruction of schools, kindergartens and hospitals focuses on energy efficiency. Workers install plastic windows instead of the usual ones, as well as insulate the facades.
Earlier Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman stated that Ukraine can refuse from the imported gas in the next five years because of the opening of the access to the Ukrainian resources as Ukrinform reported.
“We begin to develop a very difficult and closed system, the access to the Ukrainian resources. I think that it will open us access in the next five years and will allow us not to purchase gas for currency but produce it in Ukraine,” Groysman said.
