In the town of Zbarazh in Ternopil region, the alcohol base of the inactive distillery caught fire. This was reported in the State Service for Emergency Situations of Ukraine.
"Today, around 18:15, there was a report of a fire in the town of Zbarazh. On arrival, rescuers found that the alcohol tank of the Zarubinetsky inactive distillery had been depressurized and it caught a fire", the message says.
Currently, 15 units of special equipment and 63 rescuers are working at the scene. In addition, 1 fire train was sent to the fire place. Measures are being taken to prevent the spread of fire into the residential sector.
Earlier fire broke out in the Chornobyl exclusion zone, the State Emergency Service reported.
The flames engulfed about 10 hectares of wood; according to the governmental agency, the cause of the fire was the dry grass ignition. The fire started in the morning, at about 10.10 a.m.
The staff and vehicles of Ukraine's State Emergency Service are making efforts to extinguish the fire.
According to Mykola Chechotkin, the Head of the Service, the current radiation background in Kyiv is three times less than that estimated for the safe level. 'In Kyiv, the background currently equals 10 mcR/h (the allowable level is 30). The background in the industrial area of Chornobyl nuclear plant makes 50,7 mcR/h (the allowable level is 140)', he said at a briefing on Monday evening.
