‘As of today, the total desiccation area is 395.4 thousand hectares, which 200 thousand of the territory is planted with the pane. It already exceeds the last year’s records,’ the representatives of the agency claim.
It is noted that the area of desiccation woods is increasing. It increased by 50 thousand hectares from May through August of 2018.
Volodymyr Bondar, Deputy Head of the agency stressed that the members of forestry holdings are doing their best to solve the problem.
‘Forest enterprises of the region took measures to improve the sanitary conditions of the woods on the territory more than 70 thousand hectares with the total mass of 3.4 million square meters for the first half of 2018,’ he claimed.
Furthermore, the forest enterprises are developing implantation areas damaged by strong impulses of a wind. As of July 1, the works were undertaken on the area of 6.6 thousand hectares, which makes 74 percent of the total square of the damaged plantation.
The agency notes that desiccation of woods is a generic problem for most countries of the world and it is connected with a climate change, decrease in rainfall and temperature increase. Moreover, Threes lose immunity against pests without having enough level humidity.
