Vice Prime Minister for the Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories Oleksiy Reznikov said that Ukraine will join NATO when it is an equal partner with the alliance. He stated this on the air of the Big Friday show on Ukraine 24.

"The false perception is that NATO is a military organization. This is not like that, it is a military organization, but the alliance is committed to democratic relations, economic development, a better life. ... We say, let's seek cooperation in humanitarian demining, reorganization of our veterans - 400 thousand veterans went through this war, let's develop the infrastructure of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, who have long heard the breath of war ... About 200 settlements have been deoccupied in Donetsk and Luhansk regions, "Reznikov said.

In his opinion, the experience of the Ukrainian army in confronting Russia can be useful to NATO.

As for the reforms, the implementation of which is the main requirement of Western partners, including NATO countries, Reznikov noted that it is Ukraine that needs them first of all.

In June, US President Joseph Biden said that the situation in Donbas does not exclude the possibility of Ukraine joining NATO.

By the way, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky believes that NATO is keeping Ukraine at a distance. And the Ukrainian side is partly to blame for this.
