The Ministry of the Interior Affairs annually purchases fire protection equipment, which rescuers in Odesa lacked - they will find out. Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Anton Herashchenko stated this during an Hour of questions to the Government, the official channel "Rada" broadcasted.
The question about the means of protection was raised by the MP from the fraction "Opposition platform - For life" Mykola Skorik.
“The tragedy in Odesa showed the complete lack of modern means of protection and rescue of our State Emergencies Ministry. There are no modern stairs, no trampolines, and so on. I heard that the Ministry of the Interior is buying helicopters and so on. Are there any plans to purchase modern means of protection for our people and according to the Ministry of the Interior, who should do this?” - Skorik said.
Anton Herashchenko promised to find out what the rescuers lacked in Odesa.
"Every year we procure new fire fighting equipment so that our rescuers do not need anything. We will check what kind of fire fighting equipment was in short supply in this city that day and will answer your request," – Herashchenko noted.
As we reported, the death toll in a fire at Odesa College increased to three: law enforcement officers pulled out another person’s burned body from under the rubble of the building on Troitska Street.
