The Commercial Court of Odesa region looked into the civil case under the appeal filed by the Administration of Sea Ports of Ukraine. The organization sued the owner of Delfi tanker and asked for compensation of the damage done to the maritime environment, as Delfi sunk in the Black Sea near Odesa.

The court ruled that the ship's owner company, the UK-based Mister Drake PS must compensate USD 96,000 so that the aftermath of the disaster could be removed. Besides, the company will pay USD 1,500 of the court fee. This is mentioned in the Register of commerical cases.

The Ukrainian court decided that the company's claims that the Odesa sea port captain didn't give them enough time to recover the vessel from the seabed were unreasoned.

In November 2019, the Delfi tanker remained in the waters of Pivdenny port; a powerful storm thwarted the vessel to Odesa, and it sunk not far from the coast. No attempts to lift it off the sea bed turned successful until July 26, when it was put on its backbone.

It is also worth noting that the economic court of the Odesa region opened a criminal proceeding against Mister Drake PC company which owns the tanker

In November 2019, Mister Drake PC claimed it owned the vessel and provided the documents that confirmed it was its property. Then, the Administration of Sea Ports of Ukraine asked Mister Drake PC to pay for the operation to liquidate the consequences of the vessel's crash, but nothing followed.
