The government of the Czech Republic declared the emergency state for the next two weeks, as irozhlas reported.

It is noted that such a decision of the government was implemented despite the lower chamber of the parliament that opposed the declaration of the emergency state and declined this request of the government.

According to the government, the governors of all 14 regions of the republic appealed with such a demand, including Mayor of Prague Zdeněk Hřib as they believe they do not have enough means to counteract the pandemic at the local level.

“I am glad that common sense defeated politicking,” Czech PM Andrej Babiš said.

As of today, 1.09 million cases of Covid-19 were observed; 966,000 of patients recovered; 18,413 died from the complications caused by the virus.

As we reported, the Czech Republic changed entrance rules for foreigners, including the citizens of Ukraine. The new rules started to act from Friday, February 5. Besides, it is reported that the Czech government added to the zoning list with a significant spread of Covid-19 a dark red zone that includes countries with a very high risk of infection. Ukraine belongs to a dark red zone.
