A trace of the cyber group associated with the Russian Federation was noticed in a large-scale attack of the WannaCryptor virus, which hit tens of thousands of computers around the world, reports The Telegraph.

"The incident may be related to the recent warnings of the Shadow Brokers grouping to the President of the United States of America Donald Trump after the missile attacks he approved in Syria," the report said.

According to the publication, some experts believe that this fact points to the connection of a group of Shadow Brokers hackers with the Russian government.

Representatives of Shadow Brokers in April said they stole the "cyber weapon" from US intelligence, which provided unprecedented access to all computers using Microsoft Windows.

The hacking tool was developed by the US National Security Agency to gain access to computers used by terrorists and enemy states.

Earlier we reported large-scale cyber attack disabled tens of thousands of computers all around the world. Intruders want 300 dollars in bitcoins to unlock the data.

At least 57 thousand computers were affected — all of them were infected with WannaCry decrypting application or its variations. This virus encrypts information on a computer and demands to pay 300 dollar ransom in bitcoins to decrypt everything.
