Culprits caught moving fighter jet spare parts from Ukraine to EU

Malefactors tried to move spare parts for a fighter plane across Ukraine's border with the EU. The press office of the State Security Service of Ukraine reported that on January 14.

The local residents of Kharkiv region (northeastern Ukraine) illegally purchased the parts (even the used ones) for L-39 fighter-trainer from various vendors. "It is employed by more than 30 countries worldwide. The malefactors brought the parts abroad, concealing them from the customs office and then used them to (...) service the said type of aircraft abroad", reads the message.

The law enforcers detained two men in the customs area of Kharkiv airport. The criminal case has been opened; the investigation is underway.

Last month, Russian frontline bombers performed dangerous maneuvers near U.S. warship as it was approaching the port of Odesa. Two Su-24 frontline bombers and two Su-27 fighter jets reached the US ship and performed a move typical for imitation of an airstrike with the use of cruise missiles.
