The police of the Chornobyl exclusion zone prevented the illegal shipment of 320 kilograms of berries and mushrooms. The maximum allowable norms of radioactive elements in the stolen food were exceeded twofold. The PR department of Kyiv region's police reported that on Friday, July 24.
"It is established that the maximum allowable norms of caesium and strontium were exceeded twofold in 300 kilograms of forest berries and 20 kilograms of mushrooms that we seized from the citizens. Criminal cases were opened on all detected facts of violations of the radiation security mode", reads the message.
In July, the police of the Chornobyl exclusion zone prevented already 14 such cases. 16 wrongdoers were brought to responsibility.
Earlier, the State Archives of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory have presented the second book of the collection "Chornobyl KGB file. From construction to the accident", the press service of Ukraine’s State Security Service reports.
"This publication contains 229 documents, most of which were published for the first time," the statement said.
Director of the Archive of the Security Service of Ukraine and one of the compilers of the publication Andriy Kohut said that among the documents, included in the new book, were reports of accidents that had occurred in 1986, a transcript of telephone conversations at the Chornobyl nuclear power plant on the night of April 26, a copy of the first report accidents, information about the beginning of the investigation and construction of Chornobyl’s "sarcophagus."
