The Ministry of Health asks the Ukrainian government to strengthen quarantine restrictions due to the increase in Covid-19 cases. This was stated during a briefing by chief sanitary doctor of Ukraine Viktor Lyashko.
The Ministry of Health recommends stopping the work of catering and entertainment establishments in shopping centers.
In addition, according to the Health Ministry, it is necessary to ban all mass cultural events, as well as limit the work of gyms, fitness centers, and swimming pools.
Entrepreneurs who do not comply with quarantine measures should be banned from conducting their activities.
"This will allow the application of administrative measures to violators of anti-epidemic norms, and at the same time will allow those who comply with them to work within the existing quarantine restrictions," Viktor Lyashko said.
The ministry recommends introducing a separate time for servicing pensioners for shops and pharmacies - from 10:00 to 12:00. Lyashko stressed that old people will be able to visit stores at other times as well, this will be a purely recommendation point.
The changes may also affect the regions that fall into the "red zone". Local authorities will not be able to choose exactly which restrictions to impose and which not. The entire list of restrictions will need to be introduced if the rate of positive test results exceeds 20%.
As we reported earlier, the Ministry of Health does not rule out that it will propose to introduce strengthened quarantine for the weekends.
"I do not rule out that we will suggest imposing the weekend quarantine, which will provide for strict restrictions. We are doing this to break the chain of disease transmission. Stores are closed, restaurants will work only in ‘take away’ mode," Health Minister Maksym Stepanov stated.
The minister assured that there were no plans to introduce a curfew due to the fact that a state of emergency must be declared in the country first.
