11,057 new cases of coronavirus infection have been reported in Ukraine over the past 24 hours, which is a new anti-record for daily incidence. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Health on Telegram.

500,865 cases of Covid-19 have been diagnosed since the beginning of the pandemic: 227,694 people managed to recover (+6,235 per day) and 9,145 people (+198) died from complications caused by the disease.

It is noted that most of the cases were registered in Kyiv - 931, Zaporizhzhia region - 799, Kyiv region - 700, Odesa region - 663, and Poltava region - 624.

As we reported earlier, infectious disease doctor Svitlana Huk stated that a few strains of the coronavirus infection were circulating in Ukraine and that they were constantly mutating.

“The genome of the coronavirus has 30,000 nucleotides, amino acid sequences. The random replacement of such a sequence during the viral replication provides the possibility of the development of a new strain. A new strain might be less or more aggressive; such mutations make it unviable and so on,” the statement said.
