Over the last 24 hours, 6,988 new cases of coronavirus infection have been recorded in Ukraine. This was announced by Health Minister Maksym Stepanov on his Facebook page.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, 1 million 37 thousand 362 people have been infected with the disease, 18 081 (+232 per day) have died, and 681,835 (+16,106) have recovered.
The largest number of cases was reported by the city of Kyiv (953), Odesa (729), Poltava (644), Lviv (555), and Zaporizhia (514) regions.
As we reported earlier, according to Head of the National Medical Chamber of Ukraine Serhiy Kravchenko, herd immunity might stop the coronavirus pandemic in Ukraine only when two-thirds of the population has the immunity to the disease.
“To influence the intensity of the spread of the disease that is the main rate, at the first stage we need to have one-third of the population with immunity. To overcome the pandemic in general, we need at least two-thirds of the population with proper immunity. It is better if we have over 70%,” he noted.
