Over the last 24 hours, 5,583 people have become infected with coronavirus in Ukraine. This was announced by Health Minister Maksym Stepanov on Facebook.

"As of January 21, 2021, 5,583 new cases of coronavirus disease were recorded in Ukraine. In particular, 173 children and 229 health workers contracted the disease," the statement said.

41,597 tests were performed during the last day (PCR – 24,504, ELISA – 17,093).

1,177,621 people have become infected with Covid-19 since the beginning of the pandemic in the country; 914,730 people have recovered and 21,499 have succumbed to the disease.

As we reported earlier, the Ministry of Health is in negotiations with Indian manufacturer Serum Institute on the purchase of another coronavirus vaccine.

"Meanwhile, negotiations with an Indian manufacturer - the company Serum Institute - are underway. It can produce the Novax vaccine (America) and has the ability to produce a vaccine by AstraZeneca," reads the message.
