The expansion of Covid-19 in Ukraine may speed up, reaching 40-50,000 new cases per day. Viktor Dosenko, Ph.D., Chief of Department for General and Molecular Pathophysiology of the Institue of Physiology of National Academic of Sciences of Ukraine told that to OBOZREVATEL

"There could be 40-50,000 patients per day; bed capacity overloads and oxygen deficit are quite possible. The systems is overloaded, it doesn't have options for increasing the capacities", he said.

According to the expert, such a pessimistic forecases could be related to the movement of opponents of vaccination campaign. They claim that people don't have to get inoculated. Besides, the vaccination campaign in general has failed in general.

At that, the doctor added that there are no reasons to believe that Ukraine is now on the peak of incidence, which will be followed by the decrease of the sickness rate. "Perhaps, at some point it will decrease and then grow up again. Currently, the medical science, the epidemiology cannot bring us any good news", Dosenko concluded.

During the past 24 hours, the majority of new Covid cases were registered in Dnipropetrovsk (+2,254), Odesa (+1,899), Kharkiv (+1,656), and Zhytomyr (+1,559) regions, and in Kyiv city (+1,836).
