It is too soon to exclude that SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes the Covid-19 disease could have emerged in the lab of Wuhan city and leaked from there. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the head of WHO reported that as quoted by AP.
“I was a lab technician myself, I’m an immunologist, and I have worked in the lab, and lab accidents happen,” he said.
Ghebreyesus underlined that checking whether the event took place was crucial for understanding if pandemic was somehow connected to the laboratories.
"We need information, direct information on what the situation of this lab was before and at the start of the pandemic. If we get full information, we can exclude (the lab connection),” he said, adding that China's cooperation is of essence here.
