Body temperature screening continues on border checkpoints in Ukraine; over 1.6 million people have been tested so far. Viktor Lyashko, the Deputy Healthcare Minister of Ukraine said so at a briefing in the Cabinet on March 11.
He admitted that there was a small number of people with increased temperature, so one of the issues to be solved is whether the people will be only allowed to enter Ukraine across the international checkpoints.
"We consider an opportunity to continue the temperature screening everywhere, on all checkpoints. However, taking the situation into account, we will perhaps make a decision, and we'll initiate the border control procedure only across the international checkpoints of entry to Ukraine. We can also reduce the number of entry checkpoints used by people from other countries", Lyashko said.
According to the official, this is a common worldwide practice, and this is something required by the international sanitary rules.
On March 11, the Ukrainian Cabinet recommended implementing restrictions to avoid the possible spread of coronavirus infection in Ukraine. The quarantine is supposed to last for three weeks, starting from March 12. The restrictions concern education process and mass events.
