The authorities of Chernivtsi region (southwestern Ukraine) decided to impose special regime in the area. The decision was made due to the fact that there the overall number of people infected with coronavirus made 379. On April 9 alone, 76 new cases were registered, as the website of state administration reports.
Three patients succumbed to the disease in hospitals of Chernivtsi region. Two of them had confirmed cases, and another one is suspected to be infected.
Head of Chernivtsi regional adminstration Serhiy Osachuk said so in his address, which was put online, on the administration's Facebook page.
"The special regime will be active since Saturday, April 11, 1 p.m. till Monday, April 13, 6 a.m. Locals are required to stay home", Osachuk said.
He added that in the coming weekend, extra restriction measures will be implemented in all western regions of Ukraine.
Earlier, acting head of Kyiv regional state administration Vasyl Volodin claimed that the region may be closed for entry and exit, and domestic traffic in the region may be limited.
