Covid-19 in Ukraine: 3,034 new cases over 24 hours

Over the last 24 hours, on January 17, Ukrainian doctors registered 3,034 new cases of infection with coronavirus. Maksym Stepanov, the Healthcare Minister, reported that on Facebook.

1,304 people got infected within the period. 67 people passed away, and 5,236 recovered. 13,247 PCR and IFA tests were taken during the last 24 hours. 
1,163,716 people got sick during the entire period of the pandemic in Ukraine so far. 871,196 recovered, and 20,869 died. 
During the last 24 hours, the largest number of confirmed cases were registered in the Mykolaiv region (323), Kyiv city (301), Zaporizhya (266), Kyiv (240), and Dnipropetrovsk regions (220).

To date, vaccination against coronavirus has begun in 46 countries. Moreover, 38 of them are high-income countries. This was stated at a briefing by the Assistant Director-General of the World Health Organization, Marianjela Simao.

According to her, the global COVAX mechanism is intended to correct the situation so that vaccination against Covid begins in low-income countries.
