Over 810,000 people have been infected in the States, which is the current world record. That's almost four times more than in Spain, which comes second in terms of the overall number of cases.
On Tuesday alone, the number of fatalities in the U.S. grew by more than 2,750 people, almost reaching the daily average index of fatality, registered on April 15 (2,806 deaths). The largest number of deaths caused by coronavirus was observed in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Michigan (over 800 in each). New York state reported 481 new fatalities.
After protests in Michigan, Pennsylvania and California, the administrations in Georgia and South Carolina eased the restrictions imposed during the coronavirus pandemic.
A Reuters/Ipsos survey showed that most of the Americans agree with the statement that the quarantine is supposed to last until the authorities decide it's safe to lift the restrictions.
The number of lethal cases exceeded 2.5 million worldwide.
