The WHO mission found out that the coronavirus (Covid-19) appeared in Wuhan before December 2019; by then, it already circulated in that area. CNN quoted Peter Ben Embarek, the lead researcher for this mission; the expert said that in the view of this new fact, the WHO are "urgently seeking access to hundreds of thousands of blood samples from the city that China has not so far let them examine".
According to Embarek, "there were over a dozen strains of the virus in Wuhan already in December". The WHO mission workers were able to contact the man who was the first officially confirmed patient with Covid-19 in China - "an office worker in his 40s, with no travel history of note, reported infected on December 8".
"If you had to say which path (of the spread of the coronavirus, - ed.) you would bet, I believe that the virus appeared in Southeast Asia and South China from bats, and then got to a wild animal farm," he said.
