Ukraine's Healthcare Minister Maksym Stepanov said that the decrease in the number of PCR tests is associated with the use of rapid tests for the coronavirus antigen. He stated this during a briefing.
"The PCR method was used to conduct 203,954 tests. The week before - 250,417. Allegedly, what is the reason for that? We began to use, among other things, antigen tests - rapid tests, that are done in 15 minutes," Stepanov said.
According to him, over the past week, the number of tests made to detect antigen by rapid tests was 58,630. On the week before last, this number was 34,580.
As we reported earlier, during the last 24 hours, Ukrainian doctors detected 4,385 new cases of coronavirus in this country.
1,030,374 people have contracted the disease since the pandemic reached Ukraine; 665,729 recovered (+7,191 per day), 17,849 died (+75).
Over the last 24 hours, most of the new cases were observed in Kyiv city (851), Zaporizhia (472), Mykolaiv (347), Dnipropetrovsk (303) and Kyiv regions (283).
