Court re-considers case of ex-policeman who adjusted artillery fire during 2015 Mariupol attack

The court of Mariupol city, Donetsk region, considers the case of Valeriy Kirsanov. He is the former police officer who sided with Russia-backed militants and adjusted the artillery fire during the attack on the city in January 2015.

As is known, the attack on Mariupol resulted in the deaths of 31 civilians. 93 people suffered injuries. Ukraine’s state security service detained Kirsanov on the same day. Last year, the district court already sentenced him to nine years in prison for membership in the terrorist group; however, the appeal court canceled the verdict, ordering to reconsider the case.
