Pechersk District Court of Kyiv granted the application of the prosecutor’s office and chose the restrictive measure for a man suspect in the arson of the building owned by Kyiv Pechersk Lavra in the form of the detention as Kyiv Prosecutor’s Office reported on Facebook.
It is noted that a possible bail in the sum of $5,400 was appointed is the alternative to the detention.
“The actions of the 24-year-old suspect qualified as the deliberate damage of another person’s property by the arson," the prosecutor’s office reported and added that the man pleaded guilty.
As we reported fire occurred in one of the buildings on the territory of Kyiv Pechersk Lavra on January 14 at 16:17.
Later the rescuers localized it and dismantled the roof of the building to get to the seat of fire on the second floor. It was reported that the fire happened at the lab complex, where the restoration work took place. The rescuers have extinguished fire the same day about 20:00.
Later police have begun the investigation of the arson of the second floor of the building owned by Kyiv Pechersk Lavra.
Earlier we reported that fire occurred at ‘Karpatnaftokhim’ factory in Kalush city in Ivano-Frankivsk region; 20 units of equipment and 110 rescuers were involved in putting the fire out.
