Pechersk district court in Kyiv arrested ex-MP Serhiy Pashynskyi. This became known during the court session, as journalist of 112 Ukraine TV channel stated.
"Apply the preventive measure of taking into custody. The validity of the decision expires on December 4," the judge said.
Pashynskyi was taken into custody without the right to bail.
Earlier, the MP shot and wounded a citizen in a village in Kyiv region during a conflict on the road on December 31, 2016.
Prosecutor's General's Office of Ukraine did not see the offence in the actions of Serhiy Pashynskyi. The criminal case was opened. The Prosecutor's Office decided the ex-MP was acting within the necessary self-defence, however the actions of the victim were found to be "socially dangerous".
Recently, the Prosecutor General's Office reported it had resumed the criminal proceeding against Pashynskyi.
As we reported earlier, the Kyiv Court of Appeal had begun to consider appeals against the sentence of ex-President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych and would resume the case on October 18.
The trial will continue until 11:00 on October 18. After that, the case will be heard on November 18.
