The special operation in the Georgian capital is underway; since the negotiations with armed criminals failed, the troops are preparing to storm the building. Local media reported this at about 2 a.m. Wednesday.
Currently, the police interrogate 26-year-old Aslan Zhabraelov, the man who let on lease the apartment in Tbilisi, without even checking who the leaseholders are; it’s the apartment where the armed criminals locked themselves up and resisted arrest, using firearms to repel the police.
As we reproted earlier, Georgian state security service conducts an anti-terrorist operation in capital city, Tbilisi. The service’s task force is trying to arrest two foreign citizens, suspected of relations with terrorist organizations. The counter-terrorism operation kicked off at 5 a.m. and it is still underway.
According to Georgia Online, the suspects hide in a multistory house, where multiple shots and grenade explosions were heard throughtout the last night; at about 10.30 a.m., another powerful explosion thundered inside the building.
The troops blocked the entrances and evacuated the locals; an APC stands near the building, Rustavi 2 TV company reported.
One of the special force fighters was fatally wounded to the head during the firefight; later, one of the two suspects surrendered to the police.
