Constitutional Court considers renaming Dnipropetrovsk region to Sicheslav region legit

The Constitutional Court of Ukraine recognizes the draft bill No. 9310-1 on renaming Dnipropetrovsk region to Sicheslav region constitutional. UNN news agency reported that with the reference to the source in the CCU. 

'The court already provided a conclusion in this case, in fact, recognizing it as such meeting the articles 157 and 158 of the Constitution of Ukraine', the source said.  

According to him, the Constitutional Court of Ukraine made this decision made this decision in the closed part of the Tuesday session.

In the framework of decommunization process, Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada asked Constitutional Court to change the name of Dnipropetrovsk region to Sicheslav region. The session was held in February 2019.

In the fall of 2018, the parliament did not have enough votes to send this bill to the Constitutional Court.

The Constitution of Ukraine and the Rules of Procedure of the Verkhovna Rada determine the procedure for amending the Basic Law of Ukraine.
