Condition of Crimean Tatar Edem Bekirov who was detained while entering Crimea is critical. Lyudmyla Denisova, Commissioner of the Ukrainian Parliament for Human Rights claimed this on Facebook.
‘I have received information from the lawyer of detained by Russian law enforcement Crimean Tatar Edem Bekirov. Notwithstanding the confirmed diagnosis and critical health condition, he is still kept in the prison dorm of the remand center,’ Denisova said.
She added that she appealed Commissioner for Human Rights in Russia Tatyana Moskalkova and Russian President Advisor, Chairman of Council under the President of the Russian Federation on the development of civil society and human Mikhail Fedotov with a request to provide Edem Bekirov with a qualified medical assistance.
‘It is dangerous for him to be in the remand center in such a condition,’ Denisova added.
As we reported earlier, the Russian law enforcers detained Crimean Tatar Edem Bekirov at the entrance to the occupied Crimea from Chonhar, as the Chairman of Mejlis of Crimean Tatars Refat Chubarov wrote on Facebook.
“On December 12, 2018, Ukrainian citizen, a Crimean Tatar Edem Bekirov was detained at the entrance to the occupied Crimea. He was born in 1961, he lives in Novooleksiivka, Kherson region. It is known that Edem was heading to Crimea to visit his 78-year-old mother and relatives,” the message says.
According to Chubarov, Berkirov was arrested during passport control on the territory controlled by the Russian law enforcers. Later, Chubarov noted that the detainee was taken to Russia’s Security Service office in annexed Simferopol.
