Combat exercise with the use of guided missiles began at Yagorlyk firing range in Kherson region, southern Ukraine. The press service of the General Staff of Ukraine's Armed Forces posted this on Facebook.
'The crews of combat aviation, units of anti-aircraft and radiotechnical troops, communication detachments and the drones of Ukraine's Air Force are involved. The anti-aircraft units of the Ground Forces joined in as well,' reads the message.
The combat units imitate the launches of short and middle-range anti-aircraft missiles. Unarmed aerial vehicles served as the airborne targets.
Airspace over this area, including the Black Sea waters, is shut down for the period while the exercise is running.
Earlier, Oleksandr Turchynov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council reported that the large-scale tests of Ukraine-made cruise missiles are slated for the end of the year. Turchynov noted that the technical specifications of the Ukrainian missiles do not contradict the international agreement on the destruction and non-proliferation of medium-range missiles.
